Meet Our New Poetry Team!

We’re excited to introduce CarlaJean Valluzzi, Jessica Lynn Dotson, and Fitz Fitzgerald to jmww as our new poetry editors. CarlaJean, formerly our Chapbook Designer, will take on the role of Senior Poetry Editor, with Jessica and Fitz serving as Associate Poetry Editors. Our previous Senior Poetry Editor, Ashlie Kauffman, will continue on as our Contributing Poetry Editor. We will be open for poetry submissions until December 31st, at which time we’ll reopen again on March 1st. We can’t wait to read your work!

CarlaJean Valluzzi (Senior Poetry Editor and Chapbook Designer) hails from the beautiful Pioneer Valley in Western Massachusetts, received her BFA from MassArt, and her MFA in Creative Writing and Publishing Arts from the University of Baltimore. She creates {mostly} paper-based ephemera; assembles objects as well as words to suit the weather and other chaos-based phenomena. Birthdays are spent sleeping among wild ponies. Hand lettering comes naturally, and often appears on the windows and chalkboards of a local indie bookstore. A chapbook exists, You Can Not Click On This, as well as a full-length collection: Part With Never, and work will or has appeared in Espresso Ink, Artichoke Haircut, Hidden City Quarterly, the Found Poetry Review, Open Letters Monthly, The Light Ekphrastic, and elsewhere. Sometimes characters go live at, or you can find things on the facebook.

Jessica Lynn Dotson (Associate Poetry Editor) is a poet and photographer in Baltimore.  Her chapbook, Time Trials, was the 2016 Lines + Stars Mid-Atlantic Poetry Chapbook Contest winner.  She was previously the Art & Design Editor for the literary magazine Free State Review.

Fitz Fitzgerald (Associate Poetry Editor) once played Marcel Duchamp in poet’s theatre on the Lower East Side, opening up for Ed Sanders. Fitz earned a masters in poetics from the New College of California. He has two chapbooks: 17 Reasons (AngleHouse) and Triangle Shirtwaist Fire (Furniture Press). His poetry, fiction, and reviews have appeared in numerous publications including Fanzine, First Intensity, Dusie, Free State Review, and Wu Wei Fashion Magazine. He has served previously as a contributing editor for Prosodia and Vapor/Strains.
