When I was doing my taxes this year, I was astounded by the amount I spent on submission fees. Three dollars here, two dollars there, twenty-five dollars for a contest—it all adds up. And because disposable income is not always a luxury, or any income at all these days, many writers are finding themselves increasingly unable to submit work to journals. Here at jmww, we’ve never charged submission fees, and we never will.
